Communion and Liberation (CL) is a Catholic lay movement.  CL synthesizes the conviction that the Christian event, lived in communion, is the foundation of the authentic liberation of man. There is no type of membership card, but only the free participation of persons. The basic instrument for the formation of adherents is weekly catechesis, called “School of Community.”  There is a CL community in St. Louis that meets bi-monthly for prayer and friendship.

Communion and Liberation was founded by Msgr. Luigi Giussani in Milan Italy while teaching high school students.  The students of Msgr. Giussani were greatly motivated by his witness to Christ's presence in their lives that they brought his message with them to college and beyond.  CL has recognition from Rome as a official Ecclesial lay movement and is present in nations throughout the world.  For info on CL in the USA go to their website:

A Prayer for St. Mary of Victories

Our heavenly Father, / long ago you inspired our German forefathers in the Faith / to raise this beautiful house of prayer and sacrifice / in honor of your Son's most holy Mother, / Our Lady of Victories. Your Providence then brought many Hungarians here / under the co-patronage of the holy King, Saint Stephen. / We humbly place before you today / the spiritual and temporal needs of our historic church / and its present-day community. / Grant us the grace to discern your holy will, / and to fulfill  it zealously as faithful witnesses to the Gospel, / here in the old heart of our city, / for as long as it may please your Divine Majesty.

Saint Mary of Victories, pray for us!
Saint Stephen of Hungary, pray for us!
